Sure, people like the big Citroens. But where’s the love for the Talisman?
Or the Vel Satis?
Or the 607?
Or the Maxima, which wasn’t strictly French, but it did come from a time where Nissan were embracing their new partnership with Renault by snorting kilogrammes of garlic and eating escargot for every single meal. I think it counts.

Meh to the Vel Satis. I’d take that Pug or the Talisman tough! :D

I’m not that big a fan of Renault, but the Talisman isn’t all that bad. I liked the 25 and Safrane as well, somewhat. Not the Vel Satis though.
The Peugeot 607, like the other x07 models, isn’t from the best time at Peugeot. I do like the steering wheel and shift knob on that presumably early 607 though, mostly becuase they seem identical to the ones in my daily driver 406 coupe.

I just wish they had been imported here so I could own them used.

Talisman reminds me of a cross between a new Impala and a 2012 Azera.
None of these do a lot for me, but I’ve always liked the Avantime:
And on an older note, I have always liked the Peugeot 604, kind of a French W116:

I really want to combine the looks of the Talisman with the interior of the Vel Satis. Just give me the Pug, I always had a morbid fascination for the hideous 607. The Maxima is meh, they tried too hard to make the interior ‘sporty’ on this generation and it ended up looking cheap instead.

I think the Talisman is a fantastic looking car, they don’t appear to offer any decent engines for it though ( a 200hp 1.6 seems to be the best they can do). I like the 607 as well, and as 4muddyfeet mentioned below, the Safrane (and bi-turbo) are good looking, largely forgotten big french cars that I like as well. It’s just that theres no market for me in Europe anymore, everyones buying Audis and BMWs now (which honestly are much better cars).

Most of these cars were not that good to drive because of poor engines and/or dynamics but most of them are infinitely cool.
Better still, the Avantime is both!

Right on. You Canadians are going to have so many choices soon regarding French barges with your 15 year import law.
The Talisman interior looks eerily similar to that of the Volvo S90. Fun fact: the VQ35 V6 used in Nissans and Infinitis were also used in some Renault models.
